What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?
Registered Dietitians are food and nutrition experts, translating the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. The expertise, training and credentials that back a
Registered Dietitian are vital for promoting good nutrition. RDs have a Bachelor's, Masters or Doctorate Degree in
Nutrition, completed a CADE-accredited supervised practice program,
passed a national exam administered by CDR and maintain continuing education hours.
What is a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR)
Dietetic technicians, registered, are trained in food and nutrition and are an integral part of the health-care and
foodservice management teams. A DTR has completed at least a two-year associate's degree, required course
work and at least 450 hours of supervised practice accredited by CADE or at least a bachelor's degree at a US
regionally accredited university or college and required coursework for a Didactic Program (DPD) or Coordinated
Program in Dietetics (CP). In addition, A DTR must pass a national DTR examination administered by CDR and maintain continuing professional educational requirements.
